Fuel Cell Pumps

OEM pumps

Osmotex has developed a range of pumps for micro fuel cells powering portable electronics. Free standing pumps in a polymer package with standard connectors are available as evaluation kits.

Our standard pumps are designed to deliver flows in the range 1-100 µL/min, at pressures up to a few PSI. Operating voltage is usually below 20 V, and power consumption a few mW. Pumps with other specifications can be produced on a custom basis.

Bubble free operation

Osmotex fuel cell pumps can be used with fuels such as methanol or ethanol, and will normally operate bubble free at low pressures and voltages. Uniquely for Osmotex pumps is a bubble free mode allowing for bubble free operation over all pressures and flowrates. In the current version this feature requires a certain regeneration time when the pump is not in use. This function is fully automated through our electronic controller supplied with the pumps. We are currently working on eliminating the need for such regeneration in future versions. However, in most cases the fuel cell will only operate some hours per day, leaving plenty of time for the regeneration.

For more information refer to the product sheet for the M8000 pump series.

Products

The fuel cell pump is embedded in a small practical package with standard connectors and mounting lug. This allows the pump to be places near the fuel cell, and facilitates integration in fuel cell products.

Our OEM pumps are delivered with a programmable electronic control unit which can run on battery or from the grid. The electronic control also handles the pump regeneration for very robust bubble free pumping. The unit can be used with any Osmotex pump, and is prepared for multiple pump control. Optionally the unit can be delivered with a flow feedback solution for very accurate flow control.

Our products are suitable for developers and producers of micro fuel cells. Osmotex is also an OEM partner developing and supplying pumps with tailored specifications and custom made packages.
